Marty Barnes
Marty Barnes always seemed to be writing....something. In high school she was named outstanding high school journalist in her native state of Pennsylvania. She continued writing in college and afterwards worked as a reporter for a Pittsburgh newspaper chain and also taught on the high school and college level.
After moving to Atlanta she went on to freelance for a number of national magazines, including American Antiques, Gifts and Decorative Accessories and Country Inns, finally settling in as Managing Editor for a trio of travel-oriented publications.
It was after moving to Savannah that she decided to delve into fiction writing. Her Reluctant Hero is her first novel. The second, Rosemary for Remembrance is due out soon.
Marty lives in a circa 1818 Federal townhouse originally built for a sea captain, along with her husband and golden retriever, Charlie, (both of whom are retired.) She currently is on staff at one of Savannah's house museums and gives free-lance history and Civil War tours in her spare time.
